NEWS: ‘Collared’ financial crime podcast goes live with FATF president interview and narco-state explainer

By PAUL O’DONOGHUE, Senior Correspondent

‘COLLARED’, a new podcast from AML Intelligence focusing on financial crime, has officially gone live.

Series One of the 12-episode podcast will feature analysis, interviews and explainers focused on anti-financial crime, sanctions, fraud and compliance.

The first of the two debut episodes examine the rise of so-called “narco-states” and the threat posed by online “finfluencers”.  You can listen to it right here.

The second features an in-depth interview with Elisa de Anda Madrazo, President of the FATF (Financial Action Task Force), as she approaches the end of her presidency at the global AML watchdog.

That episode is now available on:

Publisher Stephen Rae said the aim is to create a ‘one stop shop’ for all the latest developments in financial crime.

“Think The Economist’s ‘The Intelligence’ and the New York Times’ ‘The Daily’, and it will give you an idea where we’re aiming,” he said.

Presenter Dee Reddy said the programme will “lift the veil” on the work carried out by those combating financial crime.

‘Collared’ podcast goes live

The first episode includes an interview with Beth Harris, head of financial crime at the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). She warns about the growing risks posed by “finfluencers” promoting investment schemes on social media.

The episode also examines warnings that certain European countries risk becoming “narco-states” because of organised crime and cocaine trafficking. AML Intelligence co-founder Stephen Rae and senior correspondent Paul O’Donoghue examine how drug gangs increasingly threaten political institutions.

In the second episode, Ms de Anda discusses the “exponential” growth in fraud and AI-powered scams. She also discusses how the FATF has changed its approach to assessing and ‘grey listing’ countries.

The podcast will provide authoritative insight, sharp reporting and candid conversations with regulators, law enforcement officials, policymakers and industry leaders.

Don’t miss out – the first episodes of ‘Collared’ are now available on all major audio platforms.
