THE first Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Plenary under UK President Giles Thomson will take place in Paris from 28 to 30 October 2026.

The meeting will conclude FATF Week, which begins on 26 October. Delegates from more than 200 jurisdictions and observer organisations across the FATF Global Network will gather to discuss “evolving threats to global financial integrity and security”.

The FATF Plenary is the main decision-making body of the FATF, the Paris-based group which sets global AML standards.

Barbados, Namibia and Thailand will participate for the first time under the FATF-Style Regional Body (FSRB) Guest Initiative. The initiative aims to strengthen the global response to illicit finance “by broadening perspectives from different regions of the world to inform the FATF’s work,” the FATF said.

“Delegates will advance work under the FATF’s roadmap on combatting fraud, as the FATF works to tackle one of the world’s largest generators of criminal proceeds,” it added.

The Plenary will also likely discuss mutual evaluation reports on Mexico and the US under the organisation’s new round of assessments.

These evaluations examine the effectiveness of countries’ measures to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing, as well as their compliance with the FATF Recommendations.

Outcomes of FATF mutual evaluations will be available when the reports are published in December 2026, following a global quality and consistency review.

Delegates will also review progress made by jurisdictions under increased monitoring.

The FATF will publish a summary of the Plenary’s outcomes on its website after the meeting concludes.
