Number of suspicious activity reports identified by German FIU in 2020 rises by 25%

The number of suspicious activity reports filed to the German Financial Intelligence Unit rose by 25% in 2020, with “significantly more” SARs filed from non-financial entities.

It’s believed that 144,000 reports were filed to the watchdog last year, with 25,000 cases forwarded by the FIU to law enforcement.
