Senior Business Manager – Strategy and Reporting, Financial Crime – Santander UK

In this role, you’ll be accountable for supporting the MLRO (SMF17 holder) in discharging their responsibilities in setting the Financial Crime strategy, ensuring appropriate Management recommendations and escalation, and the provision of relevant reporting on Financial Crime to Management and the Board, as well as having COO responsibility for the second line of defence function (2 LOD).

  • Contributing to the development of the Financial Crime strategy, taking account of a holistic assessment of macro risk environment, and establishing clear goals and priorities to meet the firm’s obligations and contributing to achieving the firm’s strategic objectives.
  • Producing Management, Board and Group reporting.
  • Providing oversight of the firm’s Financial Crime Culture Framework (including accountabilities, governance, management information, training and communications).
  • Undertaking central coordination of Line 2 function operational obligations (resource management {financial and non-financial}, mandatory reporting (training, risk and control self-assessment, risk reporting), people development and succession, communications and record keeping.
  • Establishing relationships with key stakeholders across the business to facilitate the effective flow of information and positive team dynamics.
  • Supporting the bank in meeting its business, legal, regulatory and stakeholder obligations in respect of Financial Crime Compliance.

What you will bring.

We are looking for people who can help shape, influence and transform the bank’s capabilities, ensuring we continue to disrupt financial crimes, and support and enable the right outcomes for our customers.

  • Strong financial crime experience at a Senior engagement level
  • Experience of framework/policy/procedures drafting in a Compliance environment.

It would also be nice for you to have.

  • Good understanding of the financial services industry & the political and economic environment
  • Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework of UK financial services, industry trends and best practice
  • Able to apply commerciality and judgement from a regulatory perspective to internal and market information.
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate complex issues and sound judgement in determining appropriate actions/solutions.
