Global Risk – Privacy Director – Deloitte, Germany

Work you’ll do:

  • Oversee and manage Global Privacy workstreams, including tactical, strategical, and operational processes within the program
  • Reports directly to the Global Chief Privacy Officer and other executive leadership on various privacy initiatives and progress
  • Primarily responsible for recruiting and onboarding Global Privacy team members and serving as the lead expert for privacy-related questions both on the Global Privacy team and across the global network
  • Define, update, maintain, and enhance privacy compliance program requirements
  • Complete privacy compliance reviews and oversee remediation activities across the global network
  • Monitor the system/process development for privacy compliance
  • Provide as-needed subject matter expertise and insight on a variety of privacy-related programs, initiatives, and workflows (e.g., notices, assessments, cookies/consent management, third-party requirements, incident management, etc.)
  • Understand and apply how privacy technologies can serve as an enabler for privacy program operations and assist with deployment of privacy-enhancing technologies
  • Enhance the Global Privacy Program to improve governance and readiness for product, operations, and data-driven business models through the creation and revision of policies, standards, and guidance
  • Complete periodic reviews of applicable privacy policies in light of changes to laws, rules, regulations, and organizational policies
  • Monitor and evaluate evolving laws, rules, regulations, and guidance to maintain compliance and strategic alignment
  • Lead the development of the Global Privacy team’s eminence throughout the global network and to third parties

Global Risk, Regulatory, and Public Policy develops programs, processes, and resources to preserve, protect, and enhance the Deloitte brand around the world. We identify new and emerging risks that might impact the network, mitigate threats as they are identified, proactively engage with regulators and key stakeholders to develop identification and mitigation regulations and procedures, and build a clear voice around select policy topics.

  • Seasoned leader with proven expertise in leading high-performance teams; experienced networker with the ability to develop and nurture relationships globally
  • Experience working with senior leaders to identify, influence and shape privacy related strategies to meet business objectives and manage privacy compliance obligations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at an executive level
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of global privacy laws, rules, and regulations such as the GDPR, LGPD, CCPA, CPRA, CDPA, CPA, HIPAA, GLBA, and COPPA
  • Strong understanding and awareness of technology and security issues impacting privacy programs, including ongoing and recent developments across the privacy landscape
  • Detailed understanding of security for privacy concepts and technologies such as data access governance, data classification, data discovery, encryption, masking, tokenization, information rights management, and data loss prevention
  • Superior program management skills: proven ability of driving issues to resolution, strong independent judgment, and ability to evaluate risk
  • Adaptable and resilient: strong problem-solving abilities, flexible, able to navigate transformational growth and ambiguity, show initiative and anticipate needs, and able to independently shift business priorities as needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 10+ years’ related experience
  • Certification in Privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, CDPSE certification)
  • Proficiency in MS Office – PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

Other Qualifications:

  • Law degree and/or advanced degree with client services and/or in-house experience
  • Experience with privacy-related technology solutions (e.g., OneTrust)
  • Experience working in SharePoint, Tableau, OneDrive, and Teams
