AML & Sanctions Risk Manager – Citi

The AML & Sanctions Risk Manager is responsible for supporting the ongoing implementation and enhancement of the EMEA Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) financial crime governance framework within the 1st Line of defence. This activity will be performed through active participation in regional and franchise-wide AML & Sanctions risk mitigation programs, helping to shape the strategy for managing the AML & Sanctions risks in partnership with the respective Global team, and the overall regional In-Business Risk (IBR) strategy.

The incumbent will promote effective AML & Sanctions risk management solutions by working in partnership with all TTS Product teams and 2nd/3rd line of defence partners, including Compliance, Legal & Operations, and Technology teams both regionally and globally. The AML & Sanctions Risk Manager will play a key role in the development of new and expanding TTS products by providing guidance and on-going support to product teams in order to ensure appropriate & effective controls are introduced and maintained. The AML & Sanctions Risk Manager will participate in the development of AML/Sanctions Policy and will be involved in the identification, assessment and implementation of any relevant regulatory changes.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Act as a first point of contact for AML and Sanctions related matters within TTS EMEA.
  • Provide support and project leadership to various components of the AML & Sanctions Program for TTS, including KYC, AML transaction monitoring and other AML policy/ regulatory requirements.
  • Support Product teams and Compliance to identify and assess AML and Sanctions risk for new and enhanced products and innovative solutions, including eCommerce initiatives and deals, based on globally approved guidelines.
  • Build strong working relationships with 1st and 2nd line colleagues to ensure early engagement on new business initiatives in order to ensure timely support of commercial priorities and full adherence to global and regional risk management policies and procedures
  • Conduct reviews of Sanctions processes and procedures across all product lines to ensure policy requirements are being fit for purpose and have been implemented consistently, with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Assess regulatory and business impact of proposed changes to AML and Sanctions policies/procedures/guidelines, and work collaboratively with AML and Product Compliance to ensure the business operates in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Support significant AML and Sanctions initiatives for TTS & produce milestone reports for senior management.
  • Maintain, track and update AML/Sanctions CAPs/SIRs and prepare update reports for TTS Risk Committees
  • Support the TTS business in AML-related internal or external reviews, including managing exam preparation and deliverables.
  • Provide regional TTS oversight of regional AML Monitoring, KYC and Sanctions utilities.
  • Support the TTS business and provide AML and Sanctions subject matter expertise at various global and regional committees and working groups.
  • Produce and deliver communication plans to ensure timely and consistent awareness of changes in the AML and Sanctions policies/requirements by TTS Product and country teams.
  • Coordinate and deliver targeted AML and Sanctions training when necessary.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining processes and implement efficiencies that will ultimately lead to enhanced client experience.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in AML & sanctions compliance (1st or 2nd line) role in the financial services industry

Knowledge and expertise of AML& sanctions regulations, risks and typologies

Demonstrated ability and confidence to challenge business management, escalate issues and press for change.

Experience in supporting the implementation of AML and/or sanctions programs

Demonstrable experience of AML & Sanctions risk management frameworks

  • An understanding of the EMEA region and specific experience of trade products is an advantage.
