LATEST: Spain plans levy on banks and gambling firms to fund new AML authority

SPAIN plans to fund ANIFI, its new national anti-money laundering (AML) watchdog, through a levy on banks, gambling firms and other regulated businesses.

The measure is part of a proposed overhaul of the country’s financial crime framework. The government approved the legislation on July 28.
