By Alisha Houlihan for AMLi

The investigative journalists who led the 2016 Panama Papers, 2017 Paradise Papers, and 2022 Suisse Secrets have called for society to “change the system” to stop reliance on sanctions to tackle offenders.

Süddeutsche Zeitung investigative journalists Frederik Obermaier and Bastian Obermayer have said that “we should change the system so that governments don’t have to rely on sanctions to prevent Putin and other kleptocracies from gaining power.”
