Financial institutions play critical role in identifying the $23BN wildlife trafficking industry, says FinCEN as offences climb further

THE US Treasury Department’s FIU has warned that wildlife trafficking threats are on the rise.

FinCEN’s Financial Threat Analysis – based on Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) data which tracks movement of criminal proceeds – estimates wildfire trade as valued at $23 billion annually and comprising 25% of all wildlife trade.
