IMF says governments should ‘consider the benefits of central bank digital currencies and calls for global standards on crypto as popularity soars

The International Monetary Fund has voiced support for central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) at a time when major global economies continue exploring their potential.

In a lengthy policy recommendation, the body also called for the introduction of global standards on crypto, allowing greater scrutiny as the sector continues to thrive.
