NEWS: AML Intelligence to launch ‘Collared’ podcast with FATF President interview

By PAUL O’DONOGHUE, Senior Correspondent

‘COLLARED’, a new podcast from AML Intelligence, launches with an omnibus edition from Monday next, May 18, it’s been announced.

Series One of the 12-episode podcast will feature in-depth financial crime explainers, the latest topics of the day as well as interviews and analysis with prominent executives and leaders in the sector.

“Think The Economist’s ‘The Intelligence’ and the New York Times’ ‘The Daily’, and it will give you an idea where we’re aiming,” said AML Intelligence publisher Stephen Rae.

We will launch with an unmissable omnibus two episodes. In the first episode we examine the phenomenon of ‘narco-states’ in the light of warnings that EU countries are now at risk of being corrupted by drug gangs.

It comes as Belgium, home of the EU institutions, received a poor FATF review earlier this year – at the same time as judges and politicians warned cocaine gangs posed a systemic risk, putting the country on the road to being a narco state unless action is taken.

Also on the episode, we feature an insightful interview with Beth Harris, Head of Financial Crime at the UK’s FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) as she tells us  the risks posed by ‘finfluencers’.

The second episode is also a treat for fincrime fighters with a special interview with Elisa de Anda, President of FATF. In it she discusses how the watchdog plan to tackle the ‘exponential’ growth in fraud and AI-powered scams. She also reviews key developments during her watershed two-year-term as FATF President, which comes to an end next month.

‘Collared’ podcast focus

Future episodes will also feature AML Intelligence correspondents Paul O’Donoghue and Carlo Boffa analysing the biggest stories in the world of AFC.

“We’ll have expert guests, thought leaders, technology evangelists – the whole gamut. The podcast will be the leader in this sector with serious views and news. And with a little fun thrown in,” Stephen added.

Dee Reddy, the show’s presenter, said she is “delighted” to host and co-produce the series alongside producer John Davis.

“We’ve already had the pleasure of speaking to some of the top minds in compliance, law enforcement and the fintech sector,” she said.

“In the coming weeks, ‘Collared’ will lift the veil on the fascinating work they do combatting financial crime.”

‘Collared’ will become compulsory listening for leaders in the sector. The first two episodes will be available on all major audio platforms from Monday – don’t miss it!.
