FRAUD now accounts for 45% of all crime in England and Wales amid a surge in financial crime, new research has found.

A new study from Cifas, a not-for-profit fraud prevention service, found that organisations reported more than 444,000 fraud cases to the National Fraud Database (NFD) in 2025. This is the highest annual total on record and marked a 6% increase on 2024.
