CRIMINAL networks may see museum heists as a “low-risk, high-profit” opportunity, Europol has warned, as thieves increasingly target valuable cultural artefacts and use violent methods.
The EU police agency said some criminal actors already active in other markets may have identified the potential for profit from museum thefts. It also said criminals could recruit lower-level offenders through social media to carry out individual robberies.
