NEWS: Bank of Ireland returns €474,000 in ‘money mule’ funds to the Irish State

BANK of Ireland has returned €474,000 linked to “money mule” activity to the Irish State, following approval from the High Court.

The bank said its Group Security team identified the funds in 2023 across 56 historic international fraud cases. Thescases, dating from 2012 to 2019, involved accounts that had received fraudulent transfers from foreign banks.
