AML Intelligence today (Monday) announced Carlo Boffa as the platform’s new ‘EU Correspondent’ based out of Frankfurt.

Carlo, who joins from Politico, will be responsible for covering EU affairs, including the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) based in Germany’s financial capital.

“European financial services across banks, fintechs, gaming, insurance and crypto, as well as the non-financial sector, are focused on the workings and decision-making at AMLA. Carlo will help bring insight to inform Europe’s financial services about what’s going on at AMLA,” said AML Intelligence publisher, Stephen Rae.

“At AMLi we are investing in our journalism and insights team to ensure our customers in obliged entities and supervisors receive real-time regulatory intelligence to inform their business strategy and posture,” he added.

“As artificial intelligence advances and geopolitical fragmentation reshapes the global landscape, I will be tracking the significant transformations affecting this field,” said Carlo, who joins AML Intelligence from Politico.

Carlo began his career in Poland with Thomson Reuters before joining Politico, where he reported on the European Central Bank and the broader European economy.

“I will focus on delivering breaking news and in-depth analysis of European AML and CFT regulation,” said Carlo.

“As artificial intelligence advances and geopolitical fragmentation reshapes the global landscape, I will be tracking the significant transformations affecting this field,” Carlo added.

He said he looks forward to closely following the activities of the EU’s newly established Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA), “providing professionals and public officials with timely insights into Europe’s efforts to harmonise AML regulation.”

Carlo holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Kent and one in Economics and Finance from the University of London.

Carlo and Senior Correpondent Paul O’Donoghue will be in Dublin on April 29 for ‘European Anti-Financial Crime Summit 2026’ #EAFCS2026, featuring the top global speakers in the AFC and fraud sectors. They will also be attending the ‘Compliance Council’ roundtable for AFC leaders at the European Parliament on June 23 next.
