LATEST: Bank of England reveals plan to regulate sterling stablecoins

THE Bank of England (BoE) has published its proposed regulatory regime for sterling-denominated stablecoins.

The most important suggestion relates to ‘ backing assets’. Under the proposals, ‘systemic’ stablecoin issuers could hold up to 60% of their reserves in short-term UK government debt.
