AML Intelligence has joined hundreds of news organizations globally in a critical campaign to support fact-based journalism as part of ‘World News Day 2025’.
This year’s World News Day on September 28 highlights the power of fact-based journalism.
World News Day takes place annually on September 28. This year’s campaign runs from today, September 23 to Sunday, September 28.
The theme in 2025 focuses on amplifying how trusted journalism matters more than ever.
This is especially relevant, given the rise of AI. And the difficulty many people have in distinguishing fact from fabrication.
The campaign is organised by the World Editors Forum (part of WAN-IFRA), Project Kontinuum, and the Canadian Journalism Foundation.
The campaign unites hundreds of newsrooms each year in a shared mission: to show how journalism makes a difference.
In 2024, over 800 newsrooms from across the globe participated in the ‘Choose Truth’ campaign, which was focused on combatting misinformation. This included AML Intelligence.
Despite their crucial role, many news organizations are struggling, facing financial difficulties as their work is used for free by tech companies.
David Walmsley, Editor-in-Chief of The Globe and Mail, and President of the World Editors Forum, said journalism is “the line for quality information”.
“And journalists at their best are brave, independent, insatiably curious and resolute in their pursuit,” he said.
AML Intelligence will publish more articles during the week to highlight ‘World News Day 2025’, and the crucial role played by high-quality journalism.
