NEWS: Italian business owner tricked into transferring €1M by AI voice posing as Defense Minister

A SCAM using artificial intelligence to mimic Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto has targeted some of Italy’s wealthiest business figures, tricking at least one into wiring €1 million to overseas bank accounts.

According to the Financial Times, the scheme, which falsely claimed to be raising ransom money to free kidnapped Italian journalists, approached business leaders including Pirelli chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera and designer Giorgio Armani.
