Costa Rican authorities detained eight employees from the country’s largest commercial bank on Wednesday in connection to the theft of more than $6 million, the biggest crime in the bank’s 109-year history.

The eight detainees, as well as the bank’s legal director, are suspected of crimes that include facilitating theft, breach of duties, embezzlement and money laundering, authorities said.
