American Bar votes to amend due diligence rule for clients

A revised rule was adopted on Tuesday by US lawyers to address concerns about lawyers being used to facilitate money laundering and other financial crimes.

The American Bar Association (ABA) approved amendments to its rules of professional conduct requiring lawyers to assess “facts and circumstances” before representing a client 216-102 at its annual meeting in Denver.
