NEWS: Jersey FIU becomes an independent operation

The JFSC noted that the firms had inadequate monitoring of controls to prevent money laundering and financing of terrorism which could damage the reputation of the Island’s finance sector.

The Financial Intelligence Unit – Jersey (FIU) has become an operationally independent organisation, separated from the State of Jersey Police (SoJP). 

A change in legislation has resulted in the FIU becoming independent of the SoJP’s Joint Financial Crimes Unit. It reports to Jersey’s Chief Minister via the Assistant Chief Minister for Financial Services, Deputy Elaine Millar.
