ROW: Sanctioned Russian who escaped house arrest in Milan causes war of words between US and Italy

ESCAPE: Alleged Russian sanctions evader Artem Uss cut the electronic monitoring bracelet he was wearing on March 22 and was reported to have been collected close to his home near Milan (pictured) in a fleet of four identical cars which split up to evade any pursuit. He is thought to have gone first to Slovenia, then Serbia before re-appearing in Russia.

A Russian accused of breaching sanctions has escaped house arrest in Italy and been smuggled back to Russia, causing a political scandal in Rome.
