LATEST: Lawyers resist changes to Britain’s new Economic Crime Bill which would make them more accountable

Elements in the UK’s newly published Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill could risk “confusing” the role of lawyers, the Bar Council has warned. 

In a statement, the Bar Council said provisions in the Economic Crime Bill to add a “regulatory objective” to the Legal Services Act 2007 may also be “incompatible” with barristers’ duties.
