NEWS: Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich sanctioned by UK Government over ties to Putin; Foreign Secretary Liz Truss says oligarchs should ‘hang their heads in shame’ over Ukraine invasion

The UK Government has today announced that Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea FC, has been sanctioned as part of an estimated £15BN sanction hit. 

Mr Abramovich will see his assets frozen, as well as a prohibition on transactions with UK individuals and businesses, a travel ban and transport sanctions imposed.

In a press release, the UK Government announced a full asset seizure and travel ban on seven of Russia’s wealthiest oligarchs who are “closely associated with the Kremlin.”
