WOMEN IN FINCRIME: BAE Systems Digital Intelligence’s FinCrime expert Charmian Simmons to join line-up for highly anticipated March 3 Summit

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence Financial Crime and Compliance Expert, Charmian Simmons is joining the line-up of international speakers at next week’s Women In FinCrime Summit, it was announced today.

Charmian brings over 20 years of experience in the financial sector in her role as Financial Crime and Compliance for the EMEA region at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence.

She is responsible for providing practitioner expertise, thought leadership and analysing key policy, regulatory, cultural and technology drivers transforming the compliance market.

Prior to joining BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, Charmian was Regional Director of Strategy and Performance for Risk business at Refinitiv, and served as Head of Audit in North America at Lloyds Banking Group USA.

Also joining us will be Toni Gillich, Assistant Director at the US GAO who will join the AML Intelligence devised summit live from Washington.


Ms Gillich is the Assistant Director in Forensic Audits and Investigative Service; Financial Crime Policy, having spent 17 years investigating a wide range of banking, payments systems and financial crimes.


In her current role, Ms Gillich manages teams in the GAO’s Forensic Audits and Investigative Service where they examine allegations of fraud-schemes and the implementation of the body’s framework for managing fraud risk.


Prior to joining the GAO, Ms Gillich was a lobbyist for international trade and micro-finance interests and holds a BA in Economics and MA in International Development. 


Also joining us from Hong Kong is Rekha Modi Gomes, HSBC Global Head of Risk Operations, who joined HSBC in February 2021. Prior to this, Ms Gomes was the Chief Control Officer for HSBC Wealth and Personal Banking. 


Ms Gomes has spent more than 30 years in the financial services industry, and held several Senior Management positions within CitiGroup in India, Sweden, UK and Hong Kong. 


In her current role, Ms Gomes leads HSBC’s Operations Diversity and Inclusion agenda, leading a number of initiatives across LGBT+, Disability, Gender, Ethnicity & Wellness. 


Also joining us from HSBC is Suneeta Shetty, who serves as the Global Head of Transaction Monitoring Operations & Center Director, GSC Krakow for HSBC, who will be joining us for our exciting panel discussion.
