EPPO celebrates first conviction as former Slovak mayor sentenced to three years conditional imprisonment

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is today celebrating its first conviction, after it was established in June 2021, following the successful conviction of a former Slovak mayor. 

The former mayor of a municipality in Eastern Slovakia was sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment, after pleading guilty to committing an “attempted offence against the financial interests of the EU”.
