‘We are very glad to put this behind us;’ Global crypto exchange BitMEX to pay $100M for repeated failures in AML and KYC

One of the “oldest and largest” virtual asset exchanges has reached a settlement with US authorities and agreed to a penalty of $100M for persistent AML and KYC shortcomings.

BitMEX, headquartered in Hong Kong, was found to have “wilfully failed to comply with its obligations,” under the American Bank Secrecy Act – one of the principal pieces of US legislation covering financial crimes.
