LATEST: Japan warned by FATF to be more strident in tackling large criminal groups and the dirty money fuelling the gangs’ worldwide empires.

Japanese authorities have been urged to up their game when it comes to large criminal groups and the dirty money fuelling their worldwide empires.

The country received its latest mutual evaluation report from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Monday, and despite an overall positive assessment, it warned that law enforcement needs to zero in on bigger gangs with a more widespread presence.
