China to explore cross-border payments in digital yuan, vows to protect digital currency against money laundering and tax evasion

China’s central bank is set to explore cross-border payments in digital yuan, making it the world’s front-runner to launch a central bank digital currency.

In a white paper, the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) said it was willing to consider setting global standards for a digital currency as it plans to test its digital yuan or e-CNY.
