By Elizabeth Hearst for AMLi

In its first publicly announced investigation, The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has revealed it has launched an investigation into four Croatian citizens, including the mayor of Nova Gradiška, on alleged corruption, bribery and abuse of power charges.

The probe surrounds the tendering of construction contracts, co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund. It’s alleged that the mayor under investigation reportedly requested a bribe from the manager of the construction company, for the rewarding of the contract.
