UPDATE: Data sharing and data privacy are ‘neither in opposition nor inherently mutually exclusive;’ – FATF says tech is key in advancing AML efforts while protecting human rights

The Financial Action Task Force has weighed in further on one of the most pressing issues in anti-money laundering circles: the conflict between data sharing needs and data privacy rights.

In a “stocktake” report released Friday, the global financial crimes watchdog re-affirmed that pursuing both objectives at the same time is not only possible but vital.
