‘This is not good enough;’ FATF chief says only 33% of countries have compliant laws and regulations around beneficial ownership

Financial Action Task Force President Dr Marcus Pleyer has said that only a third of countries that his organisation has assessed have adequate beneficial ownership laws.

Measures designed to root out organised criminals who operate behind the facades of legitimate companies were seeing a very poor implementation so far, he suggested, meaning further action was needed, and quickly.
