Former British cybersecurity chief warns insurance companies are financing organised crime through compliance with fraudsters; says problems is ‘close to getting out of control’

Insurance companies in the UK are funding organised crime when they pay out to victims of cyber fraud, according to the country’s former top cybersecurity expert.

Criminals operating online from bases in foreign countries are benefitting from a submissive system when it comes to cybercrime, where victims will comply with criminals’ demands, and insurance companies will pick up the cost.
