Italy’s criminals set eyes on pandemic fund

ITALY’S CRIMINAL ORGANISATIONS are eyeing the €13.5 billion EU covid relief fund for the country amid concerns that clans now wield more political and financial power than before the pandemic.

A recent report by German media company Deutsche Welle has revealed that southern Italian clans such as ‘Ndragheta, Camorra and Cosa Nostra are the primary beneficiaries of European funds.
