  FinCEN Extends Comment Period for Proposed Rule To Amend the Definition of Huione Group

  Due to a technological issue that prevented the public from electronically filing comments for several days, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is extending the comment period for the notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) it published in June to amend the existing definition of Huione Group to include H-Pay Service PLC and any successor entity. Written comments on the NPRM now must be submitted on or before August 2, 2026.

  Latvia: EPPO carries out searches in investigation into suspected hospital procurement fraud

  (Luxembourg, 22 July 2026) – Today, at the request of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in Riga (Latvia), searches were carried out at two Latvian hospitals, as part of an investigation into suspected aggravated fraud and abuse of office. The investigation concerns two public procurement contracts for sterilisation equipment and medical technology services, financed under the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and the national budget, with a combined value of €657 000 (€491 500 and €165 500, respectively).

  AMLA today published the rules that set out its cooperation with national financial supervisors to select and directly supervise some of the most significant cross-border financial institutions in the EU. They cover how entities are selected, how supervision passes between national and EU level, and how AMLA and national supervisors work side by side.
