France: EPPO indicts two suspects in investigation into fraud involving ERASMUS+ funds

(Luxembourg, 27 August 2026) – The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Paris (France) has filed an indictment before the Paris Criminal Court against two individuals residing in Germany and Switzerland following an investigation into suspected subsidy fraud of €240 000 in ERASMUS+ funding.
The investigation concerns an educational project related to children's literacy for which a French non-profit organisation, headed by the two suspects, received €240 000 under the ERASMUS+ programme between 2016 and 2019. The project was financed through a grant awarded by the French ERASMUS+ agency.
First cohort of GenA.I. Sandbox++

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), the Insurance Authority (IA), and the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (Cyberport), announced today (27 August) the first cohort of the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenA.I.) Sandbox++ .
From nearly 100 proposals received, 36 use cases have been selected for the first cohort of the GenA.I. Sandbox++, involving 30 financial institutions and 27 technology partners (see Annex). All the proposals were prioritised based on innovation, technical complexity and potential value to the financial industry, as well as advice provided by a selection committee comprising academic experts .
Two WA men charged following AFP-FBI-WAPF disruption of alleged global cybercrime syndicate

Two West Australian men have been charged following a joint investigation between the AFP and Western Australia Police Force (WAPF), working in parallel with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), into a sophisticated cybercrime syndicate that allegedly created malicious open-source software to rob thousands of global businesses.
The AFP charged the men yesterday (26 August, 2026) with a combined total of 14 offences after executing search warrants in Perth with WAPF, and the assistance of the FBI.
