THE European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has opened an investigation into suspected fraud involving EU funds allocated to maintain a section of the Madrid–Seville high-speed rail line.
The probe focuses on funding linked to infrastructure works on the line. The section under scrutiny lies close to the site of a derailment and collision on January 18 that killed 46 people.
