NEWS: SEC issues long-awaited crypto guidance

The U.S. SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) has issued an interpretation clarifying which types of cryptocurrencies are considered securities and how ​a “non-security” digital asset could meet certain conditions to become an investment contract.

SEC Chair Paul ‌Atkins also said the agency should consider a safe harbor proposal to provide crypto companies with “bespoke pathways” to raise capital, while maintaining appropriate investor protections.
