STATE bodies in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) are working “without disruption”, according to the country’s AML chief Hamid Al-Zaabi.

He said the resilience of the country’s compliance framework “underpins the UAE’s attractiveness as a global partner”.

“The UAE is stable, secure, and clear-eyed about the future,” he said.

“Our institutions are functioning as they should – with confidence and without disruption – and we are making sure that remains true across every sector.”

Tension has flared in the Middle East after the US and Israel engaged in conflict with Iran. As a result, Iran has launched strikes on locations in Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman.

However, Mr Al-Zaabi said the UAE’s air defense systems are “performing with high efficiency”.

“Our national authorities are working around the clock to safeguard citizens, residents, and visitors alike,” he said.

“From the onset of these attacks, the UAE’s message has been clear and consistent: this moment requires serious, responsible dialogue.

“Escalation is not the solution – diplomacy delivers results. Security, stability, and long-term prosperity for the people of this region can only be achieved through engagement – not confrontation.”

However, he added that the UAE will “always take the necessary measures to protect its people and defend its national security, in full accordance with international law”.

“As leaders in financial integrity, counter-terrorism and international collaboration, we remain firmly committed to strengthening transparency, combating financial crime, and advancing global partnerships,” Mr Al-Zaabi said.

“We reaffirm our full readiness to combat terrorism and maintain security.”

AML Intelligence recently spoke to Mr Al-Zaabi on the UAE’s compliance journey and upcoming AML reforms for 2026.
