Criminals using digital currency ATMs to launder illicit funds – United States DEA

Digital currency ATMs, commonly associated with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, have become targets for laundering illicit funds from the proceeds of drugs, according to a report published by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

As criminals have become more adept to increasing financial scrutiny, drug traffickers have turned to digital currency ATMs in an attempt to illegally transfer funds, according to the DEA.
