THE European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Latvia has indicted the suspected leader of a €297 million VAT fraud scheme uncovered during the ‘Admiral 2.0’ investigation.
This large-scale fraud exploited EU rules on cross-border transactions, which exempt such trades from value-added tax.

Reference is made to the meeting held on 6 February 2026 with the Chief of UNOV Conference Management Services, attended by the Chairs of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and the Standing Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Improving the Governance and Financial Situation of UNODC, during which the Chairs were informed that, due to the liquidity crises of the UN regular budget and the related reduced allocation of non-post resources, the availability of interpretation services for the work of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs might be reduced to a limited number of workdays only, without parallel sessions
