NEWS: Singapore orders social media giants to verify ads over scam risk

SOCIAL MEDIA giants will have to verify advertisers against government-issued records under new anti-scam rules in Singapore.

The three platforms must also block advertisements from unlicensed financial services firms, including those not licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). They have until January 31, 2027 to comply with the new Social Media Code of Practice, announced by Singapore police on August 18.
