THE appeals chamber of Switzerland’s criminal court has confirmed its acquittal of collapsed lender Credit Suisse, now part of UBS, in a money laundering case related to a Bulgarian cocaine trafficking gang.

UBS welcomed the decision but said that “the proceedings against UBS should have been discontinued, as criminal liability cannot transfer to the legal successor after a merger.”
