NEWS: Social media giants made €32m from scam ads aimed at Irish users

SOCIAL media platforms earned an estimated €32 million last year from scam advertisements targeting consumers in Ireland, according to new research commissioned by Revolut.

The study, carried out by Juniper Research, found that the average loss linked to a scam social media ad in Ireland is just over €1,500. Across Europe, platforms generate about €4.4 billion a year from scam ads aimed at users, the report said.
