MALAYSIA recovered about €8 billion in assets between 2019 and February 2025, with a large share linked to the 1MDB scandal, according to the FATF.

In its latest Mutual Evaluation Report on Malaysia, the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) said the country recovered €8.11 billion over the period. Of that, €6.08 billion came from cases related to 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Berhad). Most of these assets returned through civil forfeiture actions and settlement agreements abroad.
