NEWS: FinCEN extends GTOs requiring identification of shell companies buying property

FINCEN has extended several Geographic Targeting Orders (GTOs) which require U.S. title insurance companies in certain areas to identify the owners of shell companies using cash to buy real estate.

The organization, the AML unit of the U.S. Treasury, said the GTOs are effective beginning October 10, 2025.
