THE HEAD of the UAE’s AML secretariat, HE Hamid AlZaabi today welcomed the European Parliament’s decision to de-list the country.

In a statement to AML Intelligence he said: “The General Secretariat welcomes the European Parliament’s decision to endorse the Commission’s updated list, confirming our removal.

“Since the UAE’s FATF delisting in February 2024, we’ve implemented far-reaching reforms and demonstrated effective AML/CFT enforcement,” he added.

He said cooperation with EU institutions continues to deepen, “most recently through the 8th UAE-EU Structural Dialogue—advancing coordination on financial intelligence, law enforcement, and asset recovery.”

The UAE, he said, remained committed “to protecting the global financial system and reinforcing EU-UAE strategic ties.”
