NEWS: AUSTRAC orders money laundering risk audits for two Australian casinos

AUSRTAC has released guidance on its new 'tipping off' rules

By PAUL O’DONOGHUE, Senior Correspondent

AUSTRAC, the country’s Financial Intelligence Unit, has ordered external audits of two northern Australian casinos over concerns they could be used to launder money.

The Ville Resort-Casino in Townsville and Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin face scrutiny after the financial crimes watchdog said it found “potential gaps and deficiencies” in their anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) controls.
