Head of Control Testing – Group Compliance – Danske Bank

As Head of Control Testing Regulatory Compliance, you will be part of the Control Testing Management Team. You will be heading up the sub-unit covering all Regulatory Compliance aspects and your responsibility will be to oversee the control testing team and activities.

Control Testing is a continuously growing team of currently 17 professional colleagues based across the Nordics, Lithuania and Poland. This role will be based in either Denmark, working out of the Høje Taastrup office or in Finland, working out of the Helsinki office.

Our team support Group Compliance in discharging the 2LoD oversight responsibility of Regulatory Compliance, Financial Crime and Conduct risks by assessing through testing activities whether 1LoD have sufficient and adequate controls in place to support compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, as well as requirements set in Governing Information.

Your main responsibilities and managerial duties

As this role focuses on interacting with senior leaders across the Group, you enjoy advising, interacting and managing relationships within the Group. You will be leading a team of seven highly skilled employees and support the progress of their personal and professional development.

As the Head of Control Testing, you will use your gravitas, experience and interpersonal skills to help oversee testing activities to ensure delivery of high quality, value-adding and well-structured testing reports and results. With your strategy-oriented mind-set, you will be taking the lead on working with your team on developing and maintaining methodologies, procedures, testing strategies, templates and tools.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Oversee testing activities to ensure delivery of high quality, value-adding and well-structured testing reports and results
  • Support the development of the annual control testing plan
  • Stay abreast of all legislative and regulatory developments both locally and globally that might have an impact on Danske Bank

Following, we are looking for a leader who is a team player, who likes to contribute and empower the team, however at the same time you are comfortable in also working independently and running your own team and agenda.

The ability to work with many different senior stakeholders across the Group and across borders is a prerequisite for achieving good results, as you will be in touch with a number of different individuals and departments on an ongoing basis in teams in the Compliance Function. You are therefore also able to create and maintain relations with many different stakeholders with widely different backgrounds in Denmark and abroad.

With your experience and impact as a senior leader, you compel with your messages and understand how you can bring value by challenging your stakeholders and helping them deliver high quality and a clear outcome. We will succeed as a team but we imagine that you can bring the following to the table:

  • University degree
  • 5+ years experience in working within the financial services sector, the legal function, the compliance/risk management function or internal audit
  • 2+ years of leadership experience, preferably in an international environment
  • Working experience with regulation in the Financial Sector (e.g. MiFID, MAR, PSD, GDPR, EMIR etc.)
  • Good understanding of control testing, auditing and how to apply risk-based approach
  • Fluency in English -both speech and writing.
