Citi’s Financial Crimes organization aims to protect our clients, our franchise and the financial system from being used to facilitate money laundering and terrorist financing through a robust, globally-consistent program focused on the prevention, detection and reporting of AML risks which complies with applicable AML laws and regulations.

The Global Financial Crimes Investigations and Intelligence’s (hereafter “GFCII”) mission is to create an integrated approach to the prevention and detection of financial crime by identifying vulnerabilities and mitigating risks to the bank. The GFCII has expanded its mission from Anti-Money Laundering to integrate areas including, but not limited to, Cyber-Enabled Financial Crimes, Data Intelligence, Vulnerable Person Program, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Sanctions, Fraud, and Cryptocurrency. GFCII’s responsibilities include identifying trends and patterns within Citi’s data which will be distributed to relevant stakeholders for appropriate action or informational purposes with an objective is to pro-actively identify ongoing unusual activity and emerging trends. This expansion require a synchronized operational approach across the Financial Crimes umbrella. GFCII is a global unit with regional teams located in EMEA, APAC, LATAM/MX and NAM covering multiple countries in each region.

Roles and Responsibilities

This senior vice president role will ensure appropriate action has been completed and ensure a robust governance and end to end feedback process is developed and managed. This role shall be responsible for the dissemination and tracking of the product produced by the GFCII to ensure there is end to end follow through within appropriate timeframes.

This role will support and protect the firm against emerging Financial Crime risks. This position will be responsible for developing partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to identify and address current trends and to mitigate risks. As GFCII generates actionable intelligence to identify risks Citi is exposed to, this role will provide appropriate feedback through strategic analysis to matrix partners across functions and geographies to mitigate risks. This position will leverage synergies across functions and assists in the creation of a holistic framework in preventing and detecting financial crimes. Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Develop a robust process for the new feedback loop role
  • Partnering with various functions and stakeholders to achieve alignment and focus on key priorities and formalize strategies to continuously improve the Financial Crimes program
  • Tracking progress effectively against the strategy, key decisions and actions, and reporting on key deliverables and performance measures
  • Analyzing and synthesizing complex information to make informed decisions and drive solutions
  • Managing a comprehensive internal/external communications strategy to ensure effective and consistent messaging and connecting of dots
  • Leading process improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects as directed by the GFCII
  • Interaction with internal auditors and regulators regarding inquiries and/or examinations; coordinating with stakeholders in providing responses to internal auditors and external regulators
  • Maintain robust metrics (KRI/KPIs) for the function

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years prior work experience in a financial institution with work experience in AML or other financial crimes
  • Work knowledge of the laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), The USA Patriot Act, OFAC, FinCEN requirements, and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) requirements
  • Proven records of excellent project management and organizational skills and capability to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to lead global initiatives and drive global consistency
  • Highly motivated; self-starter, flexible, innovative, and adaptive
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and with people at all levels of a complex organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of tools/technique in leveraging data/technology in solving operational/process challenges.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree; Master’s degree preferred
